NEW ADVENTURE ALERT!

As many of you may know, I started this blog to write about experiences from a specific perspective…. Essentially, “I’m new at this, but I wasn’t born yesterday.” My first experience being building my own paddle board from a foam blank, which was challenging, and ultimately a great reward at the end. This next adventure will be much more important, lasting and meaningful. I’ve brought a puppy home. Yes, I said PUPPY!

As I’ve scoured the internet, books and everyone and their mom’s opinions, I’ve come to learn and experience quite a few things about raising a puppy – what’s worked for us, what hasn’t. And I’m going to blog about major and minor topics and everything in between that seems noteworthy or at least in some part, entertaining.

Some topics you can expect to see:

  • Choosing the right puppy for me: Rescue v. Breeder, selecting a breed, falling in love
  • What the hell do I actually need on day 1?
  • Two months worth of actually useful tips: sorting through all the crap part I
  • Dragon Puppy
  • Is Caesar Millan a quack or for real?
  • Training…. No that is not a muzzle, she can still bite you, I promise.
  • Poop…. sorting through all the crap part II
  • Veterinarians and Vaccines
  • Puppy Classes: sorting through all the crap part III

And just as a teensy disclaimer: I don’t profess to be an expert in any of this. And I probably have opinions about being a dog owner that will rub some people the wrong way, such is life. However, I think it’ll be nice to have a lot of information I’ve learned in one place. “Every dog is different,” is what “they” say right?. This is what I’ve learned about my pup.

Introduction to the pages concerning my SUP build:

Building a SUP is no small task. You may be wondering, why would she choose to undertake such a large project? Well, the answer is multifaceted:

  1. I really want a stand up paddle board.
  2. I work at home and am able to tend to small project tasks.
  3. For some unbeknownst reason, I seem to enjoy crazy challenges.
  4. Fiberglassing sounds cool.

This project has many, many parts and will undoubtedly make me feel like an incompetent loser at times. But, I believe that after all the time, sweat, and tears (hopefully little to no blood), when I have a SUP to call my own made exactly to my taste and specifications, that feeling will be awesome and make this project totally worth it!
